Using Microsoft WMA9 Encoder

Postby Derek » Wed Aug 05, 2009 8:48 am

Follow these instructions to use Microsoft Windows Media Encoder Series 9 (note Wave Corrector Prof. v3.6beta2 or later is required).

1. Download and install the encoder from the following link: ... fault.mspx

2. If running Vista, install the patch from the Knowledge Base article referred to at the above link. Note, the patch file must be 'run as administrator'.

3. Start Wave Corrector and select 'External Encoders' on the File menu.

4. Click the 'Add' button; then under 'Path to Encoder', click 'Browse'.

5. Navigate to the folder where the encoder is installed and select the file 'WMCmd.vbs'. Assuming Windows is installed on your C: drive, this will be:
C:\Program Files\Windows Media Components\Encoder\WMCmd.vbs

The wma encoder will now be available in the External Encoder list when you save files. Note, Wave Corrector will generate a default command but you can change if according to your preference. See the Microsoft documentation for command line options.
